Working with our Hearts

Our jobs are a necessity in many of our lives and although the workweek is different for everyone, it’s safe to say that the workweek is still very difficult.

Some of us might even wonder, “how am I supposed to survive the workweek?”

Even with our jobs being the way they are, some people love going to work and others don’t.

However, no matter what our feelings are towards work, the Bible is explicit when it says in Colossians 3:23 that, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”  This verse puts working at our jobs in a different perspective.

We never know who we are being a testimony to or who we are ministering to through the work we do. “That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10

Let’s thank the Lord for giving us the opportunity to work.

Lord, we know there are many people who are looking for work so we ask that you provide employment to those who don’t have it at this time. We also ask that you provide a better opportunity for those who are looking for one.

Finally, we ask that you soften our hearts and allow us to be imitators of Christ. We pray for our bosses and co-workers, and ask that you work in and through their lives today. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
