Pastor Chris Cassis & Viviana Cassis

Chris grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and started following Jesus Christ in his freshman year of college in Miami, Florida. During this time he developed a desire to see those who are lost, broken, and hurting restored through a relationship with God. Chris discovered that his dramatic conversion and testimony helped him connect with people who have strayed far from God. He acted on this call by serving as a youth pastor while attending Trinity International University. After Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in Christian ministries, he continued his education at Calvin Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s of divinity degree.

Chris and Vivy have been married since 2001, and they have four children together. Vivy grew up in a church planter’s home and shares a passion for evangelism and also believes in family ministry. Their gifts distinctively complement each other. While Chris is the visionary who creates and strategizes new ideas, Vivy is the administrator who organizes the details and initiates implementation.

In 2005, while Chris was attending Calvin Seminary, he and Vivy were recruited to Calvin Church in Holland, Michigan to create, design, and facilitate a youth program that would attract families from the community. This program resulted in new families attending and joining the church. Shortly after their first year of ministry at Calvin, the senior pastor became ill and had to vacate his position. Chris stepped into the pulpit to discover that he has a passion for teaching and preaching the Bible. Within a few months and a search process later, Chris was called to become the next senior pastor.

Under the leadership and influence of Pastor Chris, the church has grown in weekly attendance, professions of faith, baptisms of new believers, and in ministerial staff positions. Calvin has gained a new reputation within its community and is now being looked to as the missional model in the area. Chris is currently coaching multiple churches in Holland and is a member of the Mission Focus Team and Ministry Team within Classis Holland.

Simultaneously, Vivy became the head leader of a girls’ program called “GEMS”, which doubled in size within two years as it drew unchurched kids from the community. Vivy expanded the program by training, mentoring, and recruiting leaders and volunteers. Vivy also directed an intense outreach-focused Vacation Bible School program each year and enjoyed singing in the praise team on Sunday mornings. She has a heart for multicultural worship, racial reconciliation, and was a part of the Holland Classis Diversity Team. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Cornerstone University and was the administrative assistant to the director of Faith Alive Christian Resources for over eight years. Viviana has adventured into a new role of being a stay at home mom while she assists her husband in the task of planting The Source Church. Chris and Vivy believe they are called to a densely populated city to make an impact in the culture around them. At the same time, they have observed that the church’s voice is nearly absent within the South Broward area.

Chris and Vivy are now feeling a deep conviction and calling to plant a church in the city of Pembroke Pines. They also believe God has gifted and equipped them for this ministry over the past ten years and look forward to being representatives of Jesus Christ in this new endeavor.

Associate Pastor Duane Terpstra & Cindy Terpstra

Duane and Cindy both grew up in western Michigan. They met in high school and married in 1982. They have two grown children: Jason, who is currently in his third year at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Cassie, who is a senior at Kuyper College, also in Grand Rapids, and is majoring in music and worship.

Duane graduated from Grand Valley State University and began a career in campus law enforcement, working at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, for nineteen years as Director of Public Safety. He then worked at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for fourteen years as Vice-president of Risk Management.

During those years Duane completed a master’s degree and a doctorate in public administration. In 2008, Duane responded to a call he felt for several years to pursue ministry. He received training through the Leadership Development Network in the Christian Reformed Church and was ordained as a commissioned pastor in January of 2011. In September of 2012 he received and accepted a call as a part-time interim pastor of the Lao Christian Reformed Church in Holland, Michigan.

Cindy worked in banking for twenty years before becoming treasurer and church administrator for their church as a volunteer for the last fifteen years. She was also very involved with worship planning and playing the piano in worship.

Early in 2013 they sensed that god had been preparing them for something and felt the call to be part of a multicultural church plant in the greater Miami area. They followed God’s leading step by step as he opened doors and prepared the way for this transition. They are eager to use their gifts to reach out to a community that needs to know Jesus.

Worship Pastor Josue Sanchez

Josué Sánchez grew up in a pastor’s home in the heart of Miami, Florida. Being a pastor’s son taught him a valuable lesson: to endure in the ways of the Lord in service and in obedience to God’s will. Early in his childhood he developed an ear for music; he began experimenting with his voice to discover the talent God would soon reveal to him.

He began his music career at Glory Worship Institute at the age of thirteen. As a result of his studies, Josué graduated with degrees in music theory, piano, vocal arts, and worship ministries. During this time he had the privilege of recording background vocals for several recognized Spanish Christian artists. He also had the opportunity to tour with local bands in the South Florida area.

Due to this driving desire for music, Josué auditioned and was chosen to be a part of a Christian singing contest in 2008 that encouraged new rising artists. Following this event he was cast by BLEST Records to begin producing his first album, which is still in the making and scheduled for release in January 2014.

Josué has served in his father’s church as the lead worship director for 11 years and is ready to take on this new exciting vision of becoming the worship pastor for The Source Church. His one true passion is to bring people to the heart of God, help them understand His love and mercy, and lead them to find freedom and power in worshiping Him.

Josué loves to bring musically talented individuals to a common goal: leading God’s church into praise and worship, giving God all the glory and honor. Driven by a deep love for the Lord, he inspires those he leads to move into a profound place of worship. He strives to see lives renewed, restored, and changed through an encounter with God’s Holy Spirit.
